[comfort food like mom makes]

I'm sure everyone has a comfort food(or multiple ones!)they love. For me, they are(in no particular order)

My mom's split pea soup

Tuna casserole/Penny casserole/chicken tortilla casserole/tater tot casserole

Swiss steak

Meatloaf

Pizza(surpisingly, yes!)

Creamed eggs on toast(we loved this-it tastes better than it looks!)

Banquet or Swanson pot pies(whichever was on sale-frequently one or both of them was on sale -10 of them for a dollar-my mom needed to feed us and it was something we'd all eat *and* it was cheap-just throw a bunch of 'em in the oven and dinner's good to go! When we got a bit older my mom went back to school and then to work and we frequently would have breakfast for dinner a lot.)

Goulash(which my mom admitted recently she doesn't even like that much!) and beef stroganoff were favourites at our house.

Pork chops and potatoes au gratin.

[cookbooks I love]

The Joy Of Cooking- this is the OG of cookbooks, it's been around for ages, and as with How To Cook Everything there is an app.

What I like about The Joy Of Cooking is that the recipes are idiot proof.Several of the recipes in here are ones I make all the time-the apple crumble for one-I could never get the crumble topping on apple crisp right until I tried their recipe. It comes out perfect.Every time.

The other is How To Cook Everything by Mark Bittman. I've only made one recipe from it so far(chocolate chips cookies which were a success!) and can't wait to try more! They have a app for iPhone and iPad. Not really my thing, but I could see people who need more visual cues whilst they are cooking loving it for sure.

[welcome to my blog!]

I decided  to start this blog separately from my own;I wanted to have a place to talk about restaraunts, about recipes, that sort of thing.I will be posting pictures when possible as well.

A word about the name of this blog:It comes from an episode of Hannibal(paraphrased, of course!) and yes, I will be occasionally covering vegetarian food-it is *delicious*.
